Wastewater (effluent) that is generated by manufacturing facilities currently undergoes a treatment process which generates “dried” sludge. The current process involves coagulants that are added to the settle the solids that generate this “sludge” which consists of organic and inorganic particulate matter. The water content is reduced first by filter pressing (to 75% water content), and then via a solar drying process (to 30% water content). This process is time-consuming and would take in excess of two weeks, and would be further affected by weather conditions.
We are looking for a solution that would reduce the water content of the sludge to at least 30% in a lower reduces. We would prefer a solution that would halve the current drying time (to about 200 hours) but would be open to any solution that would be an improvement on the current drying time (<360 hours).
